Special Situations & Rapid Intervention
(India Demonetization 2016)

Some situations don't allow for a 90-day assessment. Finance breaks under pressure — liquidity dries up, operations stall, and the window to act is measured in weeks, not quarters. Kria Advisors deploys rapidly into high-pressure situations where stabilization, not transformation, is the immediate objective.

When we're engaged:

  • Liquidity under immediate threat

  • Close or reporting has broken down during a transaction

  • Leadership gap leaving finance exposed

  • Operational disruption cascading into financial control failure

  • Board or lender confidence at risk

What we do:

  • Immediate cash and liquidity triage

  • Treasury stabilization and working capital prioritization

  • Cost controls and operational continuity

  • Reporting and control restoration under compressed timelines

We apply this same rapid intervention approach in situations where performance, liquidity, or execution is under immediate pressure.

Situation — India, November 2016

On November 8, 2016, the Indian government announced the overnight demonetization of ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes — eliminating 86% of the currency in circulation. A  multi-plant manufacturer faced an immediate cash collapse as operations were heavily cash-based. Vendor payments stopped, workforce continuity was at risk, and logistics across multiple plants began shutting down

The Intervention:

Designed and executed rapid treasury and working capital interventions, including supplier renegotiation and cash prioritization to stabilize operations.

Beyond treasury mechanics, stabilizing operations meant stabilizing people.

  • Trained and enabled employees to transition to mobile and electronic payments to sustain operations and daily life

  • Arranged bulk essential purchases for hourly workers affected by cash shortages, including food staples, cooking oil, and household essentials.

  • Implemented emergency bank draft mechanisms for critical employee needs including medical expenses, weddings and family emergencies.

Impact:

  • Operations stabilized within 8 weeks-zero plant shutdowns

  • 12% reduction in operating costs through sourcing and process redesign sustained permanently

  • Treasury controls strengthened to prevent recurrence

This is what execution under real pressure looks like. Not a framework  a real deployment.
